To-Do Checklist

Get admitted to the College of Charleston.

Acquire a Department of Education PIN. For dependent students, both the student and at least one parent will need a PIN.

Complete the FAFSA. It is recommended to have completed tax forms available. Students who complete the FAFSA by March 1st receive priority consideration for various financial aid programs with limited funds. Allow 1-3 weeks for the FAFSA to be received by OFAVA.

Complete verification (if necessary), and any other documents to finish the FAFSA. Document requests can be found in MyCharleston under the title "Student Requirements". All verification documents should be submitted at least 30 days before the first day of classes.

After awarded federal aid, accept awards via MyCharleston.

Complete Entrance Counseling for Borrowers, only needed once. Allow approximately 1-2 weeks for Entrance Counseling to be received by OFAVA.

Complete Student Master Promissory Note, only needed once. Allow approximately 1-2 weeks for the Student Master Promissory Note to be received by OFAVA.
