Yellow Ribbon Program
The College of Charleston is pleased to be participating in the Yellow Ribbon Program. The program is a provision of the Post 9/11 GI Bill.
Yellow Ribbon is a scholarship designed to help students supplement their Post 9/11 GI Bill tuition benefits.
The Yellow Ribbon Program is only available to out of state students that are entitled to receive 100% of Chapter 33 benefits, as determined by the VA.
To be considered for the Yellow Ribbon benefits an individual must meet the criteria to receive the maximum Post 9/11 GI Bill benefit. You may be eligible for the Yellow Ribbon enhancement if:
- You have served an aggregate period of active duty after September 10, 2001, of at least 36 months;
- You were honorably discharged from active duty for a service connected disability and had served 30 continuous days after September 10, 2001;
- You are a dependent eligible for Transfer of Entitlement under the Post-9/11 GI Bill based on a veteran's service under the eligibility criteria, as described on the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs web site;
The Yellow Ribbon Program is available each year to 10 out of state students. As required by the Department of Veterans Affairs, the program is offered to students on a 'first come, first serve' basis.
The Yellow Ribbon Program is only available to out of state students that are entitled to receive 100% of Chapter 33 benefits, as determined by the VA.
College of Charleston and the Department of Veterans Affairs enter an agreement whereby each party offers a student $1,750.00 per semester. The award totals $7000 per year for a full time student.
You must retain half time enrollment to continue eligibility for the award.
